Rome Italy is one of the one of the most historic and exciting cities in the world. With a history that dates back thousands of years, and spans empires, Rome Italy is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. People flock to see the remains of the great Roman empire such as the Coliseum and to make pilgrimages to the Vatican. There are enough sights and sounds in Rome to keep anyone busy for weeks. But what is the best way to get there and how does a traveler get around once the travel plans have been made?
Many thousands of travelers decide to make Rome Italy a must stop visit for specific visits or larger tours of Italy and Europe. The fact the city is steeped in historical landmarks alongside modern Italian life is a delight to visitors from around the world. As one might imagine, airfare to Italy can be a nightmare. Standard round trip airfare from New York to Rome Italy will run around $2,000. This will vary a bit, being much cheaper during late spring and early fall, which are considered off-tourism months, and go much higher during the summer months and around the time of religious festivals. With gas prices going up also, airfare for long distance travel has spiked as well.
Once the flight has landed in Rome Italy, there are over 1,500 hotels to chose from in the area. Finding the right hotels for a traveler is not exactly an easy experience. Wealthy tourists or travelers willing to splurge on a little luxury will splurge on places like the Splendide Royal and Barocco, luxury hotels in the heart of Rome Italy and the vacationing action. Or, if they are so inclined, one of the many private apartments and villas open throughout the year. There are plenty of budget options available as well, everything from standard chain hotels to hostels for travelers hoping to explore Rome Italy on limited resources.
Renting a car in Rome Italy is a bit of a hassle. To rent a car, visitors need special travel insurance and an international driving permit that has been cleared with the Italian government. Additionally, there are stories of the Rome Italy authorities being a little coarse with American drivers. Because of the cultural difference and the problematic nature involved in getting access to a rental car in Italy, along with the high price and premium of parking at most of the tourist attractions, it is mostly advised  tourists do not bother renting a car on a visit to Rome Italy. The public transit system, however, is top notch.
Rome Italy is a beautiful city to visit, with many historic destinations and modern accoutrements. If a person visits Europe, even a few days in Italy are necessary to get the most out of the experience. Even better is Italy enjoys moderate Mediterranean weather throughout the year with highs in August barely reaching into the 90s and lows in December around 60 degrees. In fact, the weather in spring and fall is perfect for daytime excursions and evening strolls. Travelers owe it to themselves, if they have the time and money, to check out everything Rome Italy has to offer.
